We are excited to announce this FREE Hands-on Transoral Endoscopic Laser Microsurgery Course is taking place this year at the Nicholson Center in Celebration, Orlando, FL. This hands-on course will teach participants Transoral Laser Microsurgery (TLM) using the Lumenis CO2 Laser on human cadaveric specimens.
Participants will learn Transoral Laser Microsurgery (TLM) using the Lumenis UltraPulse DUO CO2 Laser with Digital AcuBlade Scanning Micromanipulator and FiberLase Flexible CO2 Laser Waveguide on human cadaveric specimens. By completion of this course, physicians will have the knowledge to safely perform surgery with the CO2 laser fiber and scanning micromanipulator in a variety of surgical approaches.
This is a FREE 2-day, non-CME course devoted to the principles and practice of transoral endoscopic laser microsurgery. The course is mainly dissection orientated supplemented with lecture material. Dissection will be carried out on fresh head and neck specimens. Participants will be taught TLM for benign lesions as well as cancers of the glottic larynx, supraglottic larynx and hypopharynx using a variety of laryngoscopes and high powered microscopes. Transoral laser resection of tonsil and base of tongue cancers will be taught using the Lumenis flexible CO2 laser fiber and a variety of retractors. The 2-day course will consist of half day lectures and half day hands-on cadaveric dissection on each day of the course. A live TLM surgery will be telecast during the course.
Educational Objectives
Nicholson Center
Fresh cadaveric specimens are available from IIAM (International Institute for the Advancement of Medicine.) Video Cameras and staff are available for post-procedure review and analysis in the in-house conference room. The on-site conference room is equipped with sophisticated audio-video conferencing capabilities that provide an ideal setting for didactic classroom training.
Groups can discuss, view and strategize options related to surgical case management and surgical techniques. Teleconference enables procedures occurring in the laboratory to be viewed in the conference room. In addition, teleconferencing also allows for participation to occur on a national and international scale.
